This was an excellent class. I learned so much. It was really efficient: I learned a lot for only 3.5 hours. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the STMS course. It was very thorough and informative and a great review of OT activity analysis. I appreciated the videos and the modifications for different populations and all of the research put into this course.

“This was a wonderful breakdown of such an essential skill for our students! I am looking forward to sharing this course with my colleagues and implementing the resources provided in our clinic.”

"My daughter is 5 years old and she's neurodivergent. As a parent, I already know that I have to modify how I teach her new skills and I was very excited to try “Shoe Tying Made Simple.” I played the song for her and she was singing it for a week straight! When we got the teaching sneaker, she looked at the instructions and started working on it by herself. I helped her a little with holding the laces once or twice and that was it! She got it within a few hours on her own. I absolutely loved watching her learn and talk to herself about the yellow and blue laces. The contrasting colors helped her know exactly where to put the laces every time. Needless to say, I'm an extremely proud momma and very pleased with how truly “simple” this program made this process for us. I was avoiding teaching my daughter how to tie her shoes and imagining the worst (tears, screaming, etc.) The song along with the big teaching sneaker and the different colored laces, made it really fun for the whole family!"

"I appreciated the organization of the course, the breakdown of performance skills required for shoe tying and preparatory activities for shoe tying. The course was resourceful and well worth the fee and time."

"I just finished your course!! It was awesome!! The quality of everything you did was so perfect. Really there was no stone unturned. I think that the methods are really full proof and you literally thought of everything. I like the small videos. It was very manageable. I also liked your explanation of TEACCH. Anyway, I love your packaging also. So cute!!!"

"Thank you Kelly for such a great course! I loved the handout that I can automatically share with parents and students. This course will definitely help me in teaching my students how to tie their shoes!"

"The course is great! The content is well designed. Kelly has done a thorough analysis of the task of shoe tying. The observational checklist is a great tool to determine readiness, as well as overall function. I love the multisensory approach and the variety of options. Nice activity suggestions that teach skill necessary for the task of shoe tying. I really like the platform on which you created the presentation. Could you let me know what this is?"

“I loved the course and especially your shoelaces! They are amazing!! I thought the audio was very well done. It was personable, clear, and easy to understand. The content is relatable, and you have built a strong connection to instructional strategies and reasoning (task analysis, scaffolding, TEACCH methodology). Strengths I found in the program Include: Handedness and one-handed method, individual and group instruction, focus on typically developing children in general education and also special needs children, readiness skills, and performance skills. The complimentary downloads are wonderful!!”

“I really LOVED this course and I will keep this method in mind and let other Faculty know how Fantastic this course was! Overall, this was a great course! It was easy to stop and start as needed to work interrupted, and the content was reinforced throughout. I loved the corresponding videos and the downloads. I can’t wait to try this with my nieces! You have a great program Kelly, I can’t wait to see where it goes!”

“I very much enjoyed taking the course. It was a nice review and provided good information regarding research and evidence on hand dominance and comparing the two common methods of teaching shoe tying. The information presented was clearly explained and illustrated. The on-demand feature made the course very convenient and flexible to complete. There are plenty of downloadable resources that make the program convenient and easy to use. The method of instruction used during the webinar offers a very nice structure for analyzing and teaching shoe tying and reinforces basic concepts and tools that OT practitioners should use when teaching clients (including caregivers) to perform any task or activity. Thank you very much for the opportunity to attend. I would certainly recommend the STMS method and the webinar to OT practitioners working in pediatrics and schools.”

“The course was very engaging! Excellent use of evidence based instructional methods for therapists print, verbal/audio and video prompting. Well done tying OTPF -Occupational Therapy Practice Framework-4, evidence-based practices and multisensory approach to shoe tying-truly exhibited concepts of motor learning!”

“This is a terrific course. It is practical, discusses the difference in occupation vs activity analysis (nice) and can have positive implications in outpatient and school-based therapy. Great idea for parent tools as homework. Also, the non-verbal focus and blind considerations is a plus. This could be a fun research project collaboratively with clinicians and OT schools to document skill development and the length of time teaching.”

"I just got the Teaching Sneaker the other day AND I loved the packaging! The flat box with the shoe on the outside was cute and I knew exactly what it was. The shoe is great! I have a 5-year-old and she immediately grabbed it from me and practiced shoe-tying on it. My 4-year-old is now anxious to learn (as long as she gets to use "mommy's big shoe").
I loved the "Tie My Shoe Song" and all the instructional videos. It will really help those to see your program."

The Shoe-Tying rhyme worked like a charm! I am so proud of my son and he is proud of himself as well.

We used Kelly’s shoe-tying system to teach our three children and they all had fun learning to tie their shoes. The different colored laces made it easy for them to follow the instructions.

I couldn’t believe it! My 6 ½ year old son had gotten so frustrated with trying to tie his shoes that we quit! Then Kelly told me about her book. My youngest son is now on the last step and I know it will be a matter of days until he is tying his own shoes. My older son picked up the steps in just two days! They are both so proud of their accomplishments.

The Shoe Tying Made Simple approach made the chore of learning to tie shoes an easy and fun process. My six-year-old loved to look at the pictures and do it herself. The bicolored laces made it much easier for both of us to figure out the logistics of tying shoes. Thanks for an easy, quick, tearless lesson in shoe-tying!

The method of tying shoes that Kelly Wilk has introduced to us is far superior compared to the others we have tried. Our daughter is 15 years old and although developmentally disabled, is independent in all other areas of self-help skills. We have tried with the help of other Occupational Therapists, for several years to teach her how to tie her shoes, and she was just not able to get it. When Kelly started working with her she caught on right away and I was amazed. For the first time, I started to believe that she was going to be able to learn this skill. And then in less than 3 weeks she was able to tie her shoes and double knot them all by herself. Even though I knew she was going to learn, I could not believe that she had learned it so quickly.
